Airi 爱俐 · Singapore life, honestly answered

When is my road tax due?

How to check the date, what renewing actually needs, and how to make sure it never sneaks up on you again.

The quick answer: your road tax expiry is shown on LTA's OneMotoring portal under Digital Services, with your vehicle's details. LTA also sends the registered owner a renewal notice before expiry.

Renewing — the two things you need first

  1. Valid motor insurance covering the entire new road tax period — renewal is blocked without it.
  2. Vehicle inspection, if your vehicle is due for one (older vehicles are inspected on a schedule; the renewal notice says if yours is due).

Then renew through OneMotoring's digital services. Sorting insurance a couple of weeks early makes the whole thing painless.

Why it sneaks up on people

Road tax renews every 6 or 12 months, insurance renews on its own date, and inspection on a third — three dates that drift apart over the years. Missing the chain in the wrong order is how a five-minute renewal turns into a scramble.
